CREATIVE WRITING 3

CREATIVE WRITING JOURNEY
INSTRUCTOR: JACQUELINE VIOLA MOULTON

Creative Writing is an ongoing journey, a journey that requires dedication, a schedule, community, and good working habits. Are you wanting to expand your writing skills and also work towards developing life-long writing habits? Come and write with us! This course is designed to grow our skills as writers, as well as our confidence as we will push ourselves to try new things, as well as hone and develop our own unique voice as a writer.

This course will play around with alternate storytelling structures (both within fiction and nonfiction) and will expand beyond classic and western writing rules.

We will challenge ourselves and set goals for ourselves and will do all of this in a warm, supportive, and open atmosphere - all designed to help us amplify our writerly voice and the unique ways each writer sees the world and puts that vision down on paper.

Unique features of this course:

  • time and space for critique and feedback for pieces from both the instructor and others in the class

  • a public reading at the end of the course, put on by the class participants!

  • submission practice! This course will have the option for participants to submit pieces written to various publication outlets — a process that we will all undertake together, step by step! (optional, of course!)

MATERIALS
A lined notebook to do stream-of-conscious writing in. A notebook of any kind (suggested). You will need whatever writing supplies you prefer. We will do some writing in class and you can do this on paper or on a laptop. You will write at home on your own time as well, so whatever you need for that. Please email me if you have any questions.

Public Reading - Date in May TBD (whatever works for everyone in the course)
