DRAWING WHAT YOU SEE

DRAWING WHAT YOU SEE
INSTRUCTOR: JACQUELINE VIOLA MOULTON

Drawing is a way of seeing, and there are many different ways to see, to experience, and to encounter the world, and to then put those encounters onto paper. This class will go over the basics of putting pencil to paper in order to creatively express ourselves and our worlds. We will go over a few different styles of drawing as well as learning and practicing foundational tenets, skills, and tools for drawing. Throughout this course, we will do lots of practice sketches, some collaborative pieces, a few still lifes, and other fun drawing projects! No artistic experience necessary or required. We will learn together in a warm, open, and encouraging atmosphere.

MATERIALS
A sketch pad of your choice, as long as it is 9" x 12" (Strathmore is a great brand)
Graphite sketch pencils (assortment of soft to hard: ex. 8B - 2H)
Erasers (kneaded eraser, gum eraser)
Sharpener for pencils
A black Sharpie marker
A set of charcoal drawing pencils (optional
In my humble opinion - a mechanical pencil is always great to have around!
