time reimagined
works by aaron lade
Cottonwood Center for the Arts is pleased to announce a solo exhibition by artist Aaron Lade for the month of May: Time Reimagined. Lade is a local creative who specializes in fanciful narrative works, depicting a wide range of subject matter spanning skyscapes, creatures, people, surrealistic images, and beyond.
From the artist:
Life takes an interesting, unforeseen course. I’ve been drawing and dabbling in painting since I was a kid and still believe my drawing skills surpass my painting. Aside from any skill, years of poorly allocated time and unimpressive choices, art took a back seat. It wasn’t explored, developed or fully realized. Yet, as life is unpredictable, I was blessed with the chance to reassess what I was doing with my time. I began digging into any artistic talents hibernating in my heart and mind. Now, my art and its growth occupy much of the time I once wasted.
I am deeply grateful for the support of God, Kimberly, and Cottonwood’s calls for art, which have helped beyond measure. While it’s difficult to avoid having a style, I do my best. I would rather create something people love than something they recognize.
To the question of being an artist, all I can say is...I’m trying to be.
Fun With Oil and Pastel
works by Susan Tormoen
Cottonwood Center for the Arts is pleased to announce a solo exhibition by artist Susan Tormoen for the month of May: Fun with Oil and Pastel.
Tormoen is a local creative who specializes in expressive oil and pastel works, often forgoing the paint brush in favor of the palette knife. With deliberate bold strokes and masterful color mixing, Tormoen’s depictions of the world around her are both representative and fanciful, drawing the viewer in with delightful hues and movement.
From the artist:
Something fresh and new with a variety of techniques and subjects. Simulation of nature, which can make a room warm, no matter what its shape or dimension. Not to destroy or take away from the old, but to add to it with new ideas and concepts.
